2013 Student Successes

In Rwanda

  • On average each PEACE THROUGH BUSINESS® graduate creates jobs for 22 fellow country men and women.
    • Anne Marie Kantengwa owns Hotel Chez Lando and has a staff of 140 people.
    • Linda Akeza, who owns GL Cleaning Company, has 36 employees.
    • Emelienne Nyiramana works with 30 women in her business, Cocoki Cooperative.
  • PEACE THROUGH BUSINESS® Net Profit for 2012: Average mean = $17,728 USD per year
    • The gross national income per capita in Rwanda was $578.00 USD in 20111.
    • One PTB travel agency recorded $3,050 USD in revenue during her first quarter of 2013.
    • The lowest gross revenue recorded for a PTB graduate is almost double the national average at $937.00 USD during the first quarter of 2013.
  • 31% of PTB graduates work with the government, but all PEACE THROUGH BUSINESS® graduates operate in the private sector.
    • One PTB importer/exporter gained two government contracts this year.
    • 2013 saw two PTB graduates that are in the mobile app industry: Clarisse Iribagiza with HeHe Limited and Jessie Benimana with Sail Limited.
  • A handful of our 2012-2013 PTB graduates are associated with clothing design, and have secured major contracts with international manufacturers, including Nicole Miller.
  • 31% of PEACE THROUGH BUSINESS® graduates are importing-exporting beyond Rwanda’s borders.
    • Our PTB exporters ship to neighboring countries within Africa, as well as major markets such as China and the USA.
  • 77% of PEACE THROUGH BUSINESS® graduates are Paying It Forward in Rwanda by:
    • Mentoring and providing jobs to women and students.
    • Purchasing assets from the local economy for their businesses
    • Donating to various local organizations Promoting PEACE THROUGH BUSINESS ®

In Afghanistan

  • On average each PEACE THROUGH BUSINESS® graduate creates 28 jobs.
    • Khalida Dunya, owner of Ghalam and Ball Making employs 80 in her organization, creating carpets and soccer balls for international markets.
    • Impressive Consulting Company, owned by Muzghan Wafiq Alokozai employs 42 in her successful agency.
    • In her newly created Kindergarten, Massoma Jafari is employing 16. Massoma is also part of a midwife organization.
  • PEACE THROUGH BUSINESS® graduate’s 2012 average mean = $5,440.00 USD per year.
    • The gross national income per capita in Afghanistan was $560.00USD in 20112.
    • In the fledgling industry of art and interior design, Zuhal Latif’s Farasa Art Organization reported $1,057.00 USD after tax profit for first quarter 2013.
    • Wonderland Women, owned by Manizha Wafeq also reported $1,500.00 USD for her first quarter of 2013.
  • In Afghanistan, PEACE THROUGH BUSINESS® graduates have to rely on family investment or government grants for start-up costs and Improvements.
    • Khalida Dunya received $5,000.00 USD from an NGO to establish Ghalam and Ball Making.
  • 66% of PEACE THROUGH BUSINESS® graduates are already Paying It Forward in Afghanistan by:
    • Teaching and Mentoring women through workshops and seminars.
    • Promoting the PTB Network to support businesswomen throughout Afghanistan.
    • Establishing contacts in new industries and reaching out to rural areas. Impressive Consulting alone has trained 600 women in 6 cities.

*Fatima Mazari, one of our 2013 Afghan graduates owns Refah Technology Company,

the first IT Company to contract with Afghan’s 2nd largest bank providing Point-of-Sale software.
